I have been an Approved Driving Instructor for eight years. Apart from running Autopass, I also work for Hertfordshire Action on Disability, where I assess and teach drivers and potential drivers who have cognitive and/or physical disabilities.
I am a firm believer in keeping my training skills up to date in order to provide what I aim to be amongst the best quality tuition in the area. Here's a potted history of my career to date:
1986 Graduated from the University of York with a second class honours degree in economics
1986-2002 Held various management and sales posts within B & Q
2002 Qualified as a Driving Standards Agency Approved Driving Instructor, obtaining a 6-6 score (the highest possible) at the first attempt in the final qualifying exam
2002-2004 Worked as a driving instructor for Warden Hill School of Motoring in the Stevenage, Hitchin and Letchworth area
August 2003 Passed the DIAmond Advanced Driving Test
March 2004 Passed the Institute of Advanced Motorists' Test
2004-2006 Worked as an independent driving instructor in the Stevenage, Hitchin and Letchworth area
August 2004 Passed the DIAmond Special Advanced Test
April 2006 Joined Hertfordshire Action on Disability Mobility Centre as a specialist driving instructor and assessor
May 2006 Passed the Diploma in Driving Instruction
September 2008 Successfully completed a 'Train the Trainer' course with AIM Instructor Training of Harrogate.
July 2009 Successfully completed an ADI Masterclass course with John Farlam (one of the most respected figures in the profession)
Pass Rates
The pass rates of my pupils over the last three financial years are as follows:
2007-8 80%
2008-9 67%
2009-10 80%
These compare very favourably with the overall pass rate for all car tests conducted at Cambridge (Cowley Road) driving test centre for the year 2008-9 of 53.2%
